Challenge - The new name had to match their focus on financial education as well as their ability to help all members succeed, educators and non-educators alike. Strategy - Using a strategy that stemmed from their roots as an educator’s credit union, a new brand promise was created that focused on educating members and helping them become effective financial stewards. The new name Clearstar Financial Credit Union derived from the “guiding light” image associated with education and intellectual enlightenment. It conveys a sense of moving upward and forward, toward one’s hopes, goals and aspirations. The star icon visually represents a clearer, brighter, and better banking choice sorely needed in today’s market. Result - With a name that is inclusive and reflects a common value for financial education and informed decision-making, Clearstar has increased their membership. Positive feedback from the community has boosted sales and re-energized employees.
