Summary:

Challenge – Two leaders—and longtime competitors—in the stormwater management industry, Vortechnics and Stormwater Management, merged in 2005. A new brand identity was needed to communicate the best qualities of both companies and the product breadth of the new company.

Strategy - External research indicated that it was important to communicate the vast resources of the new company without coming across to its municipal customers as a monopoly. Internal research indicated that employees wanted to retain elements of their existing company cultures and be reassured that technical innovation and career opportunities would continue.

Result - A new name, Stormwater360, and design elements were presented to employees in a coast-to-coast webcast. The response: a standing ovation from the employees and the CEO. The new brand is perceived as allowing the companies to come together with a shared vision as an organization that fosters innovation and service and is committed to meeting the needs of customers.
