Summary: Challenge - Philips AMS, manufacturers of complex semiconductor production monitoring equipment, was a “start-up” enterprise within multi-national electronics giant, Philips. They were a division formerly known as Philips Analytical. AMS needed a corporate identity that introduced the company to its target audiences and positioned it within the Philips corporate family. Strategy - AMS uses laser-based Surfacewave™ Technologies to measure and monitor semiconductor wafers on the production line. This, and the wave found on the Philips shield were the inspiration for the approach. A wave theme was developed for the company logo, and as a unifying element incorporated in the company’s successful launch through trade shows, advertising, the website, brochures, and other marketing materials. Result - The design strength has helped to catapult Philips AMS into the “top three” in this market space within a year.
