Cape Breton University's Athletic Department sought to change. Challenge When it comes to successful sports programs, a school’s athletic identity often runs hand-in-hand with the school itself. This is precisely why Cape Breton University sought a change. It required a new icon to better match the achievements of its teams, one that accurately reflected student and local pride. Strategy To re-engage the school, community and alumni in an effort to: - Evolve the brand identity to help position the brand as a more relevant and inviting representation of the school - Invigorate passion by including stakeholders in the process of the rebrand - Build a culture of want... want to be associated with the school Result Cape Breton University’s new look has generated significant buzz throughout the campus, the community and the university landscape in Canada. The school's new look generated over $1.2 million in PR awareness mentions, and sold out of merchandise at both Men's and Women's basketball Canadian Championships. The schools' varsity teams won 4 of 6 Atlantic University Championships.
