Orlando Museum of Art

Summary:

Industry Setting - The nationally acclaimed Orlando Museum of Art (OMA) has served as a cornerstone of the Orlando Arts community since its founding as a private, community-supported educational institution in 1924. Since its inception, the museum's mission has been to enrich the cultural life of Florida by providing excellence in the visual arts. Thanks to the OMA, Central Floridians and area visitors have been treated to an expansive collection from Art of the Ancient Americas to important contemporary works.

Challenge - The OMA wanted to rejuvenate its graphic identity and needed a brand that could better reflect its mission and increase awareness of the museum.

Strategy - Create a more consistent and contemporary brand to showcase all that the museum is to the community, as well as reference its future aspirations and commitment to the arts and art education. In addition, develop a stronger presence for OMA on the Web to increase worldwide awareness of the museum and its programs. The new OMA logo was constructed from timeless, geometric forms. These compositional building blocks approximate the letterforms O-M-A, the acronym for the Orlando Museum of Art.

Result - A 9-month analysis of the OMA website, prior to and following the new site launch featuring the rebrand, showcases the strength of the branding:

• Website visitation increased by more than 1,100%
• Page views went up by more than 3,400%
• Time spent on site increased by nearly 100%
• Bounce rate decreased by nearly 50%
