Industry Setting - Conceived in 1998, Lux Art Institute is an innovative art museum in North San Diego County.
Challenge - Through a groundbreaking artists in residence program, Lux offers the public an intimate view of the artistic process. The uniqueness of Lux presents a significant challenge: how to convey the Lux concept simply and clearly to the public.
Strategy - Over the past decade, John Ball, a founding board member of Lux, has led the MiresBall team in the creation of almost every public touchpoint with the museum. To support the highly anticipated opening of its building, MiresBall helped refocus Lux around its artist-centered experience and a new institutional identity and voice. The refreshed communications program emphasizes Lux's mission to make art more engaging and accessible--and serves as an excellent framework for highlighting the work of its resident artists.
Result - Lux has successfully embarked on a second phase of fundraising, and museum events are attracting growing crowds.
