Polypod

Summary:

Industry Setting - In the rich urban culture of Beirut, Polypod seeks to bridge multiple design disciplines in a collaborative and intelligent manner.

Challenge - The name Apicabia was initially selected from the mutterings of a two-year old. Many people suffered from having to remember the name.

Strategy - An offsite brainstorming retreat produced a shortlist of names meant to express our approach: friendly, multidisciplinary and collaborative. We polled our clients, suppliers, and partners whether a name change was even necessary. They also voted on some names we liked. Of the 31 surveyed, 57% favored a name change, and 80% preferred Polypod.

Poly means multiple, and pod refers to teaming. The design merges four circles .The logo typeface is adapted from Russell Square and the text font is Conduit. Together they balance the soft Polypod with a dose of sobriety and minimalism. The rebrand expresses the studio's playful and creative character. The multiple colors reflect our multiplicity and consciously break a basic branding rule.

Result - The name has proven popular with all our partners, and has raised the confidence and pride level of our team. Polypod is differentiated and has continued to grow.
