Summary:
Industry Setting - The GAA (Gaelic Athletic Association) is an amateur association founded in 1884 to protect and cultivate Irish national sporting pastimes during a time of occupation and cultural repression. Today the GAA is one of the largest and most successful sporting associations in Europe.
Challenge - To establish a brand identity for the GAA that delivers on the intent of the vision, mission and values of the Association and meets the changing needs of modern Ireland and the competitive arena in which the GAA now operates.
Strategy - The GAA name has been uniquely rendered for the association drawing cultural resonance from Ireland’s calligraphic past. This rendering is now the primary brand mark for the Association. To complement this a new Association Crest taking the original All-Ireland Championship Medal (1910) as its source has been crafted with the GAA name enshrined within.
A clear strategy has been established to ensure visibility of the GAA brand name across all touchpoints, with comprehensive guidelines in place for building brand relationships in all territories.
Result - The GAA has become one of the most visible brands nationwide enabling the launch and successful execution of a complex new multi-sponsor arrangement set to bring in record revenues for the Association.
