David Oliver Founder and Principal, Cusp Co-Founder and Director, From Concentrate 
David Oliver is the founder of Cusp, a product development and brand consultancy focused on creating competitive advantage through technical and design innovation. At Cusp, and in his work with several other design firms, David has contributed to the development of award winning and industry acclaimed products and services ranging from robotics and optics to housewares and software. In addition to his work in engineering and design, he has been called on to help create brand messaging that is true to the roots of technology-centered companies. David holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering and was awarded the Deflorez prize for Engineering Design Creativity for his thesis work at MIT. His work has been recognized with numerous design and industry awards, and he holds patents in fluids, kinematics and optics. Outside of their consulting duties, David and his partner at Cusp are compelled to fill notebooks with sketches and descriptions of products they wish existed and problems they wish didn’t. Some of those notes demand their attention. In 2006, they founded From Concentrate as a vehicle for transforming those neat ideas and nagging questions into products that are both functionally compelling and aesthetically appealing.
