Summary: Industry Setting - For over 80 years Swift Optics has been recognized in the education science market as a successful creator of microscopes. In recent years, encroaching competitors began to introduce and sell low quality and low cost microscopes, prompting Swift to reevaluate its product line. Challenge - To develop a compact, durable, highly portable classroom microscope through innovative design that would appeal to teachers and their students with features that would dramatically differentiate it from the rest. Strategy - Swift Optics broke away from the conventional microscope design form by enhancing its field-portability with an ergonomic integrated handle and by creating user-friendly dimensions to improve the feel of the microscope’s key device controls.
