Court TV
2006 ReBrand 100 Winners > meritIndustry: Communications/Media - Below: Before Images, Rebrand Images, Summary, Credits Summary: Challenge - Court TV needed to have an on-air image that conveys the excitement and intrigue of crime-drama, yet doesn’t glorify criminals. Strategy - For the on-air image there was a distinct split from daytime and primetime, while still maintaining cohesive design elements between the two, such as the logotype. To announce this exciting and dynamic new network identity the Court TV outdoor campaign was created, which re-imagines New York’s vernacular landscape through the lens of crime-drama. Result - The resulting on-air image/s is a dynamic and clean combination of bold typeface, vibrant colors and crisp graphics, incorporating the new symbolic DNA test band, the lynchpin of many court cases, into the new logotype. Using a color palette of bright reds, oranges, yellows, blues and greens, we devised the energetic graphics along with a new logotype. Over a dozen different outdoor elements were created featuring black type on a yellow background - reminiscent of crime-scene caution tape for the outdoor campaign. The ads label taxicabs as ‘Getaway Car,’ pay phones as ‘The Lookout,’ city sidewalks as ‘Perp Walk,’ city buses as ‘Witness Relocation,’ and deli bags as ‘The Stash.’ The outdoor campaign conveys the idea that there is a world full of intrigue and excitement that Court TV uncovers in its programming.
