Industry: Restaurants and Fast Foods - Below: Before Images, Rebrand Images, Summary, Credits

ABP Corporation

Summary:

Challenge – In 1999 Au Bon Pain commissioned Sasaki to develop a new design concept that would re-energize their restaurants and reposition their brand. The new design and approach resulted in a revenue increase of about 25% for the renovated urban locations. This success prompted Au Bon Pain to enter the suburban market place and retained our firm to design a suburban prototype café.

Strategy - The design concept for the 5,000 square foot prototype returns to Au Bon Pain’s roots as a French bakery café. The sunny and buttery yellow, Au Bon Pain’s signature color, is reminiscent of the sunflowers of southern France. The finishes and colors in the service area of the café make the space feel clean and energetic.

Result - The result is a design that evokes a feeling of sophistication and comfort that is reminiscent of a spa experience. Equally appealing to adults and children, the crisp whites, blues and greens of this environment are fresh and suggest a relaxing and comfortable tone.
