misc David Rice is president of DesignCom, based in Washington, DC, a firm he founded 18 years ago. He has lectured on design and design issues at the School of Design at North Carolina State University, the University of Cincinnati, Indiana University and the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. David has been a featured lecturer of the Toyota Motor Corporation Endowed Lecture Program at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. He was also the cover story in Interiors & Sources magazine, a columnist for Interior Design magazine, and the subject of over 50 articles. David was one of 64 internationally known designers and thinkers featured in the Industrial Elegance Exhibition, which opened at the Guggenheim Museum and later toured the country. He is founder and chairman of the Organization of Black Designers, a former member of the Michigan Council for the Arts and a three-time member of the Design Arts Panel of the National Endowment for the Arts. He has served as a member of the Exhibits Planning Committee of the Cooper Hewitt Museum and has served on the board of directors of Worldstudio Foundation, the New York City-based international organization dedicated to increasing the diversity of design culture and practice by establishing scholarships for students of color.
